😲 A new year doesn’t guarantee change… but it does offer THIS!

How's it going, Reader? It's been a very Happy New Year's thus far. I saw this quote on Good Reads today and it stopped me in my tracks: “A new year does not guarantee change; it presents an opportunity to think higher, act braver, and live truer than before.” And I keep thinking about that last part: live truer.😲 Because “living truer” isn’t just journaling and good intentions (although I love a good fresh notebook moment). Sometimes living truer looks like showing up for your audience even when you’re not feeling it that day. I’ve shown up on days I was having a rough one… and honestly? My audience ended up making my day better.😁 That’s the funny thing about visibility: when you show up anyway, you become more relatable. More human. More trustworthy. Because nobody wants to follow a “Mary Sunshine” fake person who never has a messy day.🥱 People want a real person with authentic thoughts and feelings, someone they can actually connect with. And in a world where AI is everywhere (and getting better by the minute), it’s more important than ever to show your authentic self.🤩 Not “perfect.” Not “polished.” Not “what you think you’re supposed to say.” Just… you. Lately, “living truer” for me has also meant leaning into natural creativity again. I’ve gotten back into watercolor and pencil artwork like I did in high school and college (and wow, I forgot how calming it is). And I’ve even taught my son how to use colored pencils in his art, too. 🥹 It’s been such a sweet reminder that there’s something powerful about natural media… and also about your own natural thoughts and feelings. If something doesn’t feel right? Don’t do it. Don’t let outside influences persuade you otherwise. I actually talked about this on a podcast a few days ago...how I don’t allow others to dictate how I run my business. Some people are more outwardly focused than others, and that’s okay… But becoming a business owner has taught me so much about myself. For example: I used to think I was just a big procrastinator.😖 Turns out? I’m consequence-driven. If I don’t want to do something, I’ll think about what will happen if I don’t do it… and that’s what gets me moving. Entrepreneurship has a way of holding up a mirror, doesn’t it?🤣 And what drives me most isn’t money. It’s the people. There are so many people out there who could use my help...and I might be the only person who can help them once they reach me. And the same goes for you. You have unique abilities and experiences that can help others… …but only if they know you exist. Which is exactly why I’m making 2026 my year of visibility.🤗 I’m getting on social media more, and I’m using Opus Clip to make it easier. It takes clips of my podcast, turns them into short form videos with captions for social, and even schedules them. Business time, right? If you’ve been wanting to show up more consistently without spending your whole life editing videos, I highly recommend checking it out. TLDR: you don’t have to be “on” every day.
